- Fianto has no free trials and no 100% coupons. A 99% coupon for one charge is the closest honest substitute: a 20.00 USDC monthly plan starts at 0.20 USDC.
- A fixed amount off that would leave less than 0.01 USDC of your monthly price is refused on that price, so it works as a yearly-only code (and on any price above it).
- Coupons cannot be limited to a product or a customer. Use the expiry, the redemption limit, once per wallet, and one code per channel instead.
Which coupon settings can a recipe use?
A Fianto coupon is built from a discount, a duration and up to three optional limits, and nothing else. How each one behaves at checkout and on chain is covered in discount codes for USDC payments; this post only combines them. The ingredients:
| Setting | Range | Fixed after creation? |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage off | 1% to 99%, up to 2 decimals | Yes |
| Fixed amount off | Any USDC amount that leaves at least 0.01 USDC to pay | Yes |
| Duration | First charge only, 1 to 120 billing periods, or every charge | Yes |
| Expiry | 1 minute to 5 years ahead | No, editable |
| Redemption limit | 1 to 1,000,000 paid redemptions | No, editable, never below the paid count |
| Once per wallet | On or off | No, editable |
What is missing matters as much. As of 15 October 2026, Stripe's coupon documentation lists promotion codes restricted to a specific customer, to first-time orders or to a minimum spend, and coupons limited to specific products. Fianto has none of these: a code works on any of your prices, for any wallet, until a limit stops it. Up to 100 coupons can be active at once, and a checkout takes one code at a time.
How do you offer a first month almost free without a trial?
Use a 99% coupon that lasts for the first charge only. Fianto has no free trials, and a 100% coupon cannot exist because Fianto cannot settle a free charge, so 99% off one charge is as close as it gets.
Recipe: FIRSTMONTH
- Percentage off: 99. Duration: first charge only.
- Once per wallet: on. Expiry: optional, for example the end of a campaign.
On a 20.00 USDC monthly plan from Thrummet, the discount is 19.80 and the first charge is 0.20 USDC. Fianto rounds a percentage discount down to the smallest USDC unit, so any rounding favours you. On a plan created since 6 October 2026 the customer also pays the flat network fee that comes with each subscription charge, 0.01 USDC today, so they sign for 0.21 USDC. Thirty days later the plan renews at 20.00 USDC plus that fee, inside the approval they already gave, with no new signature.
Two things make this unlike a card trial. The customer still pays real costs in SOL to subscribe: the Solana fee of the transaction they sign, and account rent for the subscription account, about 0.00144 SOL as of 15 October 2026, which comes back when they reclaim it after the subscription ends. A wallet's first subscription also pays about 0.00119 SOL once for the wallet setup account, which is not returned. The checkout shows the exact live amounts before anyone signs, and the per-period cap the customer approves is the full price plus fees, not 0.20.
How do you run a launch discount with a deadline?
A launch discount works best as a percentage that lasts every charge, capped by a redemption limit and an expiry, because the early subscribers keep it after the code stops working.
Recipe: FOUNDERS
- Percentage off: 20. Duration: every charge.
- Redemption limit: 100. Expiry: launch day plus 14 days.
Only paid redemptions count toward the limit, so a hundred people who type the code and walk away do not use it up. Once a payer has connected a wallet and the transaction is built, just before signing, their place is held for 5 minutes, so two people cannot both take the last slot. Shop delivery codes are also held while a buyer pays, as selling event tickets for USDC describes. A payment that lands on Solana late is still honoured, so the coupon can very occasionally end a little past 100. When the expiry passes, the code stops for new payers, but each subscription that already has the discount keeps it for the coupon's full duration: here, for life.
Price the forever discount as a permanent cut. On a 15.00 USDC monthly plan, 100 founders at 20% off pay 12.00 each, and your MRR carries 300.00 less than list price for as long as they stay. How MRR counts discounts shows where that appears on the Overview. If you would rather have the price recover, use 20% for 3 billing periods instead: the fourth charge is full price, again with no new signature.
Can a coupon work only on yearly plans?
A Fianto coupon cannot be tied to a product, but a fixed amount off can be sized so it is refused on your monthly price. The rule that a discounted price must stay at least 0.01 USDC does the work: a fixed discount that would leave less than 0.01 USDC of the monthly price is refused, so the checkout turns the code down for that purchase, and the payer pays full price.
Recipe: YEARLY25
- Fixed amount off: 25.00 USDC. Duration: first charge only.
- Your prices: 12.00 USDC monthly and 120.00 USDC yearly for the same product.
| Price | List | After YEARLY25 | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 12.00 | -13.00 | Refused: below 0.01 USDC |
| Yearly, first year | 120.00 | 95.00 | Accepted |
| Yearly, second year | 120.00 | 120.00 | Full price, first charge only |
The limit of the trick is plain: the code works on every price of 25.01 USDC or more, including one-off products and other plans. If you sell anything else above that amount, either accept the discount there too or keep the code private. Pair it with the yearly pricing maths in monthly or yearly USDC pricing: a yearly price is charged every 365 days, so 95.00 for the first year is about 7.92 a month, against 12.00 a month on the monthly price.
How do you make a code for one customer?
Make a code with a redemption limit of 1 and a random code from the Generate button, which produces 10 characters. The code is not bound to a person: whoever pays with it first uses it up. That is why it should be random and sent privately, not a guessable word.
Recipe: a win-back code
- A fixed amount off equal to what you want to give, for example 10.00 USDC. Duration: first charge only.
- Redemption limit: 1. Once per wallet: on. Expiry: 7 days.
Every bad code gets the same refusal at checkout, whether it never existed, expired or is used up, so a stranger guessing codes learns nothing about which ones exist. Give the coupon a name only you see, such as the customer's ticket number, so the Paid redemptions list tells you later who used it.
How do you track which partner or channel sold a plan?
Create one coupon per channel with the same discount and a different code, then read each coupon's paid redemptions. A newsletter sponsor gets one code, a podcast another, your own social posts a third.
- Each coupon's page lists its paid redemptions with the record, the product, the list price, the discount, the amount paid and the paying wallet, and exports them as CSV.
- The orders and subscriptions CSV exports carry a
discount_column, so a month-end count per code needs no extra tracking.code - Payment links and your shop take the same codes, so one code per channel works whether the buyer arrives through a payment link, the shop or your own checkout.
Fianto stops at the count. It has no affiliate commissions or partner payouts: paying a partner their share is a transfer you send from your own wallet, the same way a refund is.
Bill monthly or yearly in USDC, with discount codes on every checkout. The merchant pays nothing.
See how subscriptions workWhich coupon mistakes cost you money?
- A high percentage with every charge. 50% forever halves that subscriber for life, and the value can never be edited. To change it you archive the coupon and create a new one, and subscribers who already have the old discount keep it.
- A fixed amount on cheap one-off products. 5.00 off works on a 30.00 plan and is refused on a 4.00 sticker pack, which reads as a broken code to the buyer.
- Assuming archiving reaches existing subscribers. It stops new redemptions only. An archived code can be reused on a new coupon, which is handy for a yearly campaign with the same word.
- Forgetting what the customer pays on top. The Fianto fee, after the beta, is worked out on the discounted price, and the subscription network fee is not discounted, so a 99% first charge is never zero.
Prices themselves, round numbers and the fees added on top are covered in pricing in USDC, and what the customer pays in total is set out in the docs page What it costs.
