Stablecoin subscriptions: recurring payments in USDC, approved once.
A stablecoin subscription is a recurring payment in a stablecoin such as USDC, collected from the customer's wallet on a schedule after the customer approves it once. Fianto runs stablecoin subscriptions on Solana: the customer approves a cap per billing period, a public program enforces it on chain, and each period's USDC goes straight to the merchant's wallet.
What a stablecoin subscription is
Three things make a payment a stablecoin subscription. It is priced and paid in a stablecoin, so the amount does not move with the market. It repeats on a fixed schedule, every 30 or 365 days. And the customer approves it once, not every period: after the first approval each renewal is collected without a new signature.
That third part was the missing piece for years. A wallet only moves money when its owner signs, so most "crypto subscriptions" were a reminder email and a manual payment every month. Since 2026 Solana has a public Subscriptions program that lets a customer approve a schedule and a cap once, and lets a merchant collect within them. Fianto is built on that program. How a renewal is collected is on stablecoin auto renewal.
Stablecoin subscription versus card subscription
| Card subscription | Stablecoin subscription on Fianto | |
|---|---|---|
| Who approves | The customer enters a card; the merchant charges it | The customer signs once in their own wallet |
| The limit | None the customer can see | A cap per billing period, written on chain |
| Where the money waits | Processor balance, then a payout | Nowhere: wallet to wallet in one transaction |
| Merchant fee | A percentage plus a fixed amount per charge | None. No Fianto fee during the beta |
| Chargebacks | Possible | None. A refund is the merchant sending USDC back |
| Who can use it | Countries and business types the processor accepts | Anyone with a Solana wallet, USDC and a little SOL |
Card billing still has what wallets do not: the customer needs no wallet, no SOL and no USDC. A stablecoin subscription fits a merchant whose customers already hold stablecoins, or who cannot get a card processor at all.
What it costs
The merchant pays nothing. The price the merchant sets is the amount that lands in the merchant's wallet, and there is no Fianto fee during the beta. The customer's wallet pays the Solana network fee of the transaction it signs, under $0.01, the account rent of the subscription account, about 0.00197 SOL today, which comes back when the customer reclaims it after the subscription ends, the rent of a one-time wallet setup account on the wallet's first subscription, which is not returned, and a flat network fee with every charge, 0.01 USDC today. The hosted checkout shows all of it before the customer approves. The numbers are on the pricing page.
Who it fits
- SaaS and API plans: a monthly or yearly price in USDC, access granted and revoked from signed webhooks. See SaaS and APIs.
- Memberships: research, newsletters and communities paid in USDC, sold from a hosted shop with no code. See memberships.
- Agencies and retainers: a monthly retainer the client approves once. See agencies.
How to start
- Create a Fianto account, prove you control the wallet you want paid to, and wait for Fianto to approve the account.
- Create a product with a monthly or yearly price in USDC. A price must be at least 0.01 USDC.
- Open a shop, pick a theme and share the link, or create checkout sessions from your server with the SDK.
- Your customer approves once from their wallet. Each period is collected on the day and a signed webhook tells your server.
Today Fianto accepts USDC on Solana. Other stablecoins and networks are not accepted yet. The full walk-through is in the post stablecoin subscriptions on Solana: how automatic renewals work.
