On this page
- MoonPay Commerce subscriptions (as of 15 October 2026): monthly or annual, with renewal reminder emails that send the customer to a single-use Charge page to pay each cycle.
- Fianto subscriptions: monthly or yearly USDC on Solana, approved once, then collected each period within an on-chain cap, with four tries if the wallet is short.
- Fees: MoonPay lists 2% per transaction (1% with a HelioX Pass). On Fianto the merchant pays nothing; the customer pays 0.01 USDC per subscription charge today and no Fianto fee during the beta.
Is Fianto a MoonPay Commerce alternative?
Fianto is a MoonPay Commerce alternative for one job, recurring USDC billing on Solana, and a poor one for everything else MoonPay Commerce does. Fianto publishes this post, so weigh it with that in mind. Every MoonPay fact below comes from MoonPay's support FAQ, its launch announcement or the Helio developer docs, read on 15 October 2026 and listed in the sources. Where those pages say nothing, we say "not published".
MoonPay's announcement says it acquired Helio in January 2025 and that Helio's technology now runs as MoonPay Commerce. The developer docs still live at docs.hel.io, and that is where the subscription mechanics are written down. MoonPay Commerce is a broad crypto checkout: pay links, a checkout widget, deposits, the Solana Pay plugin for Shopify, card on-ramp and fiat off-ramp. Fianto is narrower: USDC on Solana, as one-off checkouts or subscriptions that renew without the customer acting.
How does a MoonPay Commerce subscription renew?
A MoonPay Commerce subscription renews when the customer pays again. The Helio docs, read on 15 October 2026, describe the cycle in one sentence:
Each month, customers receive email reminders directing them to a Charge page to renew with a single tap of their wallet.
The merchant sets how many days before expiry the reminders start, and the docs say customers then "receive daily notifications until their subscription ends". A grace period, in days, gives the customer extra time to pay. If no payment arrives by then, "the subscription will expire automatically". Most subscription webhook payloads carry a nextChargeUrl, the link to the customer's next payment page, so you can send your own reminders; a subscription pay link created through the API can switch MoonPay's emails off.
This is a push model: each payment happens because the customer signs it. Nothing is taken from a wallet without a fresh signature, and no standing approval sits in it between payments. The cost is the month a customer misses the email. The two models are compared in how crypto recurring payments work.
How a Fianto renewal differs
On Fianto the customer signs once at checkout. That one transaction pays the first period and approves a cap per period, the price plus the fees, on the Solana Foundation's Subscriptions program. On each due date Fianto asks the program to collect, and the program refuses any amount above the cap, any destination the plan does not name, and any collector not on the plan's list. The customer signs nothing at renewal.
If the wallet is short, nothing is taken and the subscription goes past due. Fianto tries at the period boundary, then about one hour, six hours and a day after it: four attempts in all. After the fourth counted failure the subscription ends, and the missed period is never charged later. The schedule is fixed, not a merchant setting; it is laid out in failed renewals and retries. Fianto sends no renewal reminders, so if you want customers warned before a charge, you send that message.
MoonPay Commerce vs Fianto at a glance
MoonPay's column is what MoonPay's own pages said on 15 October 2026. Fianto's column is the product as it runs today.
| MoonPay Commerce | Fianto | |
|---|---|---|
| Renewals | Reminder emails; the customer pays each cycle on a single-use Charge page | Collected automatically within the cap the customer approved once |
| Subscription intervals | Monthly or annual, with an optional annual discount on monthly plans | Monthly (every 30 days) or yearly (every 365 days) |
| Late payment | A grace period in days, set by the merchant | Four fixed attempts over about a day, then the subscription ends |
| Chains | "all major blockchains including Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Polygon", plus others through its deposit and swap widgets | Solana only |
| Tokens | "USDC, SOL, ETH, BTC, and hundreds of other tokens" | USDC only |
| Transaction fee | 2% standard, 1% with a HelioX Pass; swaps 0.25%, auto-offramp 0.50% | Merchant: none. Customer: 0.01 USDC per subscription charge today, no Fianto fee during the beta |
| Where the money goes | "direct buyer-to-merchant payments", per its launch announcement | The merchant's own wallet, in the same transaction |
| Fiat | Auto-offramp to a bank account in USD and EUR through MoonPay Enterprise; card payments for buyers | None: no off-ramp, no card payments |
| Testing | Devnet and testnets at a separate dev site | No test mode; a test webhook event, the CLI, or a self-hosted backend |
| Shopify | Runs the official Solana Pay plugin for Shopify | No Shopify plugin |
| Countries | Not published on the FAQ | No country list; its acceptable use policy bars merchants located in a comprehensively sanctioned country or region, and collecting from anyone there. A person at Fianto reviews each merchant |

What does a 49 USDC monthly plan cost on each?
On a 49.00 monthly plan, MoonPay's listed fee is 0.98 per charge at the standard 2%, or 0.49 with a HelioX Pass, as of 15 October 2026. Over twelve charges that is 11.76, or 5.88. The FAQ says MoonPay charges "a fee per transaction" and offers custom pricing for high-volume merchants; it adds that "High-risk platforms are subject to a minimum rate of 2%." A HelioX Pass is an NFT held in a wallet linked to your account.
On Fianto the same plan puts 49.00 in your wallet every period, because the merchant pays nothing and never pays a network fee. The customer pays:
- 49.01 USDC per charge today: the price plus a flat 0.01 USDC network fee on plans created since 6 October 2026. One-off payments carry no such fee.
- The Solana fee of the one transaction they sign at checkout, under $0.01.
- Account rent when they subscribe: about 0.00144 SOL as of 15 October 2026 for the subscription account, returned when they reclaim it after the subscription ends, and about 0.00119 SOL once for the wallet setup account on a wallet's first subscription, not returned. Solana is cutting rent in phases, so the checkout shows the exact live amount.
There is no Fianto fee during the beta. After the beta the customer pays a Fianto fee of about 0.1 to 0.5% on top of the price, and the merchant still pays nothing. On Fianto the customer sees each of these amounts on the checkout page before approving.
Bill USDC on Solana with no merchant fee. No Fianto fee during the beta.
See how a plan is billedWhat does MoonPay Commerce do that Fianto does not?
MoonPay Commerce covers a lot of ground Fianto never enters. As of 15 October 2026 its pages list:
- Payments in many tokens on many chains, Bitcoin and Ethereum among them, with swaps.
- An auto-offramp to a bank account in USD or EUR. Fianto has no fiat payout of any kind.
- Pay with Card: a buyer without crypto buys it by card through MoonPay or Onramper and pays, and the merchant still receives crypto.
- The Solana Pay plugin for Shopify, plus deposits for apps and a Discord bot that adds and removes roles.
- Devnet and testnet accounts for testing without real funds. Fianto has no test mode or sandbox.
If a customer pays in SOL, BTC or a token Fianto does not take, or you need euros in a bank account, MoonPay Commerce is the better fit and this comparison ends there. Two other multi-coin gateways are compared the same way in NOWPayments vs Fianto and BitPay vs Fianto.
Where Fianto falls short
Fianto accepts USDC on Solana and nothing else. A customer needs a Solana wallet that can sign transactions, USDC for the price and a little SOL for the network fee and rent. Intervals are monthly and yearly only, with no free trials. There are no invoices, no team accounts, no refund API (a refund is USDC you send back from your own wallet) and no custom domains for shops or links.
Every merchant is reviewed by a person at Fianto before it can take a payment, and no review time is promised. Payment links, discount codes and the shop are dashboard only, with no API. On the other side, a merchant can sell without code: a USDC payment link for one price, or a no-code USDC shop with recurring prices, both of which create real subscriptions.
Which one should you choose?
Choose MoonPay Commerce if
- Your customers pay in many tokens or on chains other than Solana.
- You want fiat in a bank account, or card payments for buyers without crypto.
- You sell on Shopify, or you need a devnet to test against.
- Your customers would rather approve each renewal than leave a standing approval in their wallet.
Choose Fianto if
- Your customers already hold USDC on Solana.
- You want renewals collected without a monthly reminder, with failed charges retried on a fixed schedule and the on-chain cap protecting the customer.
- You want the whole price in your own wallet, with no transaction fee taken from it.
