Accept USDC tips with fixed tiers, from a shop or a payment link.

Fianto takes USDC tips at fixed amounts you choose, not at an amount the supporter types: list up to 10 prices on one "Support or tip" product in your shop, or create one payment link per tier. The supporter pays the tip plus a Solana fee under $0.01, and the full tip lands in your wallet. Charities and political organisations need Fianto's written approval before their first collection.

TL;DR
  • There is no pay-what-you-want field in the shop or on payment links: each tier is a fixed USDC price, from 0.01 up.
  • A one-off tip carries no USDC network fee and no Fianto fee during the beta; a monthly supporter tier carries a 0.01 USDC network fee per charge today, paid by the supporter.
  • Fianto's acceptable-use policy puts charities and political organisations among the businesses allowed only after review and written confirmation.

Can supporters choose their own tip amount?

Supporters cannot type their own amount on a Fianto shop or payment link: every tip is one of the fixed prices you created. A price in Fianto is a product amount in USDC, the dollar stablecoin, set in your dashboard. A payment link carries exactly one price, and a shop listing shows between one and ten prices of one product.

When you set up a shop, the "What do you sell?" step lists "Support and tips" with the example "Tips, donations, pay what you want". Read that as a category, not a feature: the buyer still picks one of the prices you listed. On a product, the matching kind is "Support or tip", and it only sets defaults: the button reads "Support", the buyer email is Optional, and the message after payment reads "Thank you for your support." Visitors never see the kind itself.

A free amount exists in one place only: the checkout API, where your own server sets the amount of each session. That route needs code and is covered further down.

How do you set up tip tiers without code?

Tip tiers take one product with several one-off prices, then either a shop listing or a link per price. Your merchant account must be approved before a shop publishes or a link takes a payment.

  1. In Products, create a product such as "Tip jar" and add one-off prices, for example 3.00, 10.00 and 25.00 USDC. The smallest price Fianto accepts is 0.01 USDC.
  2. For a shop: add the product to your shop, set its kind to Support or tip, and choose which of its prices to show, up to ten. Rewrite the message under After a purchase if "Thank you for your support." is too plain.
  3. For links: create one payment link per price under Payments, Payment links, choosing Existing price each time. Each link gets its own address at checkout.fianto.xyz/l/ followed by 16 random characters.
  4. Decide on email. A link offers Don't ask, Ask, optional, or Ask, required; nobody verifies the address, and link payers get no email from Fianto.
  5. Optionally set an after-payment address on each link, such as a thank-you page. The receipt then shows a Continue button that opens it.

A shop gives you one page with every tier side by side; links suit a bio, a video description or a chat pin, where each tier is its own button. Link mechanics, limits and closing are in how to create and share a USDC payment link, and the shop itself is in the no-code USDC shop post. The dashboard steps are also in the Fianto docs on creating a payment link.

What does a 5 USDC tip cost the supporter and you?

On Fianto a 5.00 USDC tip costs you nothing: 5.00 USDC lands in your wallet, and the supporter pays the 5.00 plus the Solana fee of the one transaction they sign, under $0.01. One-off payments carry no USDC network fee. There is no Fianto fee during the beta; after it, the supporter pays about 0.1 to 0.5% on top, which is 0.005 to 0.025 USDC on a 5.00 tip, and you still receive 5.00.

For comparison, Buy Me a Coffee's help centre article on calculating charges, read on 15 October 2026, lists "a 5% platform fee per transaction" plus Stripe's "2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction", a 0.5% payout fee, and extra fees of 1% for transactions from outside the US and 0.5% for subscription payments. It also lets creators pass the card fee to supporters.

Platform fee5%: $0.25None during the beta; after it about 0.1 to 0.5%, paid by the supporter
Processing2.9% + $0.30: about $0.45None for you; the supporter pays a Solana fee under $0.01
Before payout and surcharges, you keepAbout $4.30, unless the supporter covers the card fee5.00 USDC
Supporter needsA cardA Solana wallet holding USDC and a little SOL

The fixed $0.30 is what hurts small tips on cards: it is 6% of a $5 tip on its own. The last row is the price of that saving. Most people carry a card; far fewer hold USDC on Solana, so a USDC tip jar works best next to a card one, for the supporters who already hold stablecoins.

Put three tip tiers on one shop page. You pay nothing per tip.

Can supporters give every month?

A monthly supporter tier is a recurring price: the supporter approves once in their wallet, and Fianto collects the same amount every 30 days. A link created with the New product option offers One-off or Monthly; a yearly price, every 365 days, can be linked as an existing price. There is no weekly tier.

Recurring tiers cost the supporter a little more than one-off tips. Each charge, the first included, carries a 0.01 USDC network fee today, on plans created since 6 October 2026. Each subscription also locks Solana account rent in SOL, about 0.00144 SOL as of 15 October 2026, which the supporter gets back by reclaiming it after the subscription ends. A wallet's first subscription adds a one-time wallet setup of about 0.00119 SOL that is not returned. The checkout shows the exact live amounts before they approve.

Supporters cancel in the customer portal at fianto.xyz/my, and the subscription runs to the end of the paid period. Fianto sends no renewal reminders. If a charge fails, Fianto tries four times in all, at the period boundary and then about one hour, six hours and a day later, and the subscription ends after the fourth counted failure. A full recurring setup from one URL is in a recurring payment link for a monthly USDC plan.

How do developers take a tip of any amount?

A tip of any amount needs your own form and server: the supporter types the amount on your site, and your server creates a Fianto checkout session with that amount. A checkout session is one hosted payment page for one order. The amount field takes a decimal USDC string from 0.01 to 1,000,000 with at most six decimals, and it requires a description. Every session also needs your own unique order_id of up to 128 characters and https return addresses.

server/create-tip.ts
import { Fianto } from '@fianto/sdk';

const fianto = new Fianto(); // reads FIANTO_APP_ID and FIANTO_APP_SECRET

// amount comes from your tip form, already checked to be between 0.01 and 1000000
const session = await fianto.checkoutSessions.create(
  {
    mode: 'payment',
    order_id: tipId,
    amount,
    description: 'Tip',
    success_url: 'https://example.com/thanks',
    cancel_url: 'https://example.com/tip',
  },
  { idempotencyKey: `tip:${tipId}` },
);

// send the supporter to session.url

Validate the amount on your server before calling, since an out-of-range amount is refused with amount_out_of_range. The rest of the integration, keys and webhooks, is in how to accept USDC on Solana. If you are weighing this against plain links, payment link or checkout API sets out the trade.

Can a charity or political group take USDC donations on Fianto?

Charities and political organisations may use Fianto only after Fianto has reviewed them and confirmed in writing. Section 3 of Fianto's acceptable-use policy, "Businesses that need our approval first", lists "Charities and political organisations" and, under what Fianto usually asks for, "Registration and where donations go".

These are allowed only after we have reviewed them and confirmed in writing. We may ask for licences, legal opinions or proof of how you protect customers, and we may attach conditions or lower limits.

Fianto acceptable-use policy, section 3

Being able to create a link does not mean a charity has that approval. Every merchant goes through review before taking a payment, and no review time is promised. Fianto produces no tax acknowledgement for donors and calculates no tax: if your country expects a donation receipt, it comes from you. Whether a tip or a donation is taxable income, or deductible for the giver, depends on local rules; this post is not legal or tax advice.

What if a supporter tips the wrong tier?

A tip on Fianto cannot be pulled back by the supporter, and Fianto has no refund button: you return money by sending USDC from your own wallet to theirs. The payment record in your dashboard shows the paying wallet, so a mistaken 25.00 instead of 3.00 can be settled by sending back 22.00. Card tip jars work differently, because a card payment can be disputed; the trade-offs are in chargebacks vs crypto refunds.

Questions

Questions about USDC tips.

Is there a pay-what-you-want option for USDC tips?

Not in the Fianto shop or on payment links: each tier is a fixed price you set. A free amount needs your own form and a checkout session created with the amount field.

What is the smallest USDC tip I can set?

0.01 USDC, the lowest price Fianto accepts.

Do supporters get an email after tipping?

A shop buyer who gave an email gets one email with your after-purchase message. Payment link payers get no email from Fianto.

Can I accept crypto donations for a charity on Fianto?

Only after Fianto has reviewed the organisation and confirmed in writing: its acceptable-use policy lists charities and political organisations among businesses that need approval first.

Do I need SOL to receive tips?

No. You never pay a network fee; the supporter pays the Solana fee of the transaction they sign. Your wallet needs a USDC token account, which it gets the first time it receives USDC.

Sell a paid newsletter for USDC: Ghost, beehiiv and Substack

Fianto has no Ghost, beehiiv or Substack integration, so a USDC newsletter is two halves: a Fianto shop takes the monthly or yearly payment, and your newsletter tool grants paid access to the reader's email. Ghost and beehiiv can do the second half through Zapier, from the shop's purchase.paid and subscription.ended events; on Substack you comp each reader by hand from a CSV export.

Sell event tickets for USDC with delivery codes, and what you still need

For a small general-admission event, a Fianto shop can sell tickets for USDC: load one ticket code per seat as delivery codes, and each paying buyer gets one code on the receipt and by email, until the product shows Sold out. Fianto has no seat maps, no QR codes, no scanning app and no ticket quantities, so you check people in against your own list. A seated venue or a large crowd needs a ticketing platform.

Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy and Paddle for crypto sellers: what they accept and the USDC option

None of the three takes crypto at checkout. As of 15 October 2026, Gumroad's buyer guide puts "Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency" under things you cannot pay with, and neither Lemon Squeezy's nor Paddle's payment-method lists name any crypto or stablecoin. All three are merchants of record that take cards and PayPal and handle sales tax for a fee per sale; a Fianto shop takes USDC on Solana only, charges the merchant nothing, and handles no tax.

Pick three amounts and share them.
