Notes on USDC subscriptions on Solana: how renewals are collected, what Fianto ships, and the numbers behind it.

Stablecoin payments for business: a plain guide to taking USDC
Accepting stablecoin payments means a customer pays you in a dollar token such as USDC, sent from their wallet to yours in one blockchain transaction, with no card network or processor balance in between. You get money that cannot be charged back and needs no payout; you take on keeping your wallet safe, sending refunds by hand and recording each payment's dollar value. With Fianto you accept USDC on Solana only and pay nothing as the merchant; there is no Fianto fee during the beta.
PaymentsDoes crypto auto-renew? Which services renew on their own and which send a link
Usually not. A subscription paid in crypto ends when the paid period runs out unless you pay again, because a wallet has no card number the merchant can charge. It renews on its own only when you signed an approval with a limit per period at checkout, as Helius autopay and Fianto plans on Solana ask for, and then it keeps renewing until you cancel it or a renewal cannot be paid.
CompareStablecoin vs card subscriptions: churn, dunning and disputes
Card renewals fail when a card has expired, been replaced or been declined, and card billing answers with automatic card updates, processor emails and long retry windows: Stripe recommends 8 tries within 2 weeks. A USDC subscription on Fianto counts a failure only when the wallet is short, its approval was removed, or its USDC account is frozen or closed, and Fianto tries four times within about a day before ending it. There are no chargebacks on USDC and Fianto emails no subscribers, so the merchant does the reminding, from webhooks.
WalletsWhat a customer needs in their wallet for a USDC subscription
Before you subscribe to a USDC plan through Fianto, your Solana wallet needs four things: the ability to sign a transaction without sending it, a USDC account holding at least the first charge, and enough SOL for the network fee, the wallet's own minimum balance and the account rent. On 15 October 2026 that SOL came to about 0.0033 SOL for a wallet's first subscription and about 0.0021 SOL after that, and the checkout shows the exact live amount. Renewals need only USDC.
GuidesMonthly or yearly: pricing a stablecoin subscription
On Fianto a monthly USDC plan renews every 30 days and a yearly plan every 365 days, so a 12.00 monthly plan charges 13 times in its first 365 days and is worth 146.00 USDC a year, not 144.00. Price the yearly plan against that figure: at 120.00 a yearly customer saves about 18%, and you collect the year up front. Because the merchant pays no fees on either, the yearly discount is a choice about cash and churn, not about saving processing costs.
ProductPayment link or checkout API? Choosing how to take USDC
Use a payment link when one fixed price is the whole offer and you do not want to run a server; use the checkout API when the sale starts inside your own site or app and you need your order IDs, your metadata or an amount decided per order. On Fianto both end on the same hosted checkout, with the same fees and the same wallet-to-wallet payment. What differs is who creates the checkout session, which application owns the sale, and what your code can read afterwards.
SolanaCompareSolana Pay recurring payments: why the spec has none, and what to use instead
Solana Pay cannot take recurring payments: its spec defines a transfer request and a transaction request, and both end with the customer signing one transaction, with no standing permission left behind for next month. As of 15 October 2026 the spec does not mention recurring payments or subscriptions at all. For recurring USDC on Solana you need a delegation the customer approves once, which is what Solana's Subscriptions program provides and what Fianto, the publisher of this post, runs subscriptions on.
Use casesUSDC payment gateway for SaaS: what to check before you pick one
Before a USDC gateway bills your SaaS plans, check five things first: whether renewals are pulled automatically or invoiced, who holds the money between your customer and you, who pays the fees, whether webhooks are signed and replayable, and what the customer needs to cancel. Fianto pulls renewals on chain within a cap the customer approved, sends the money straight to your wallet, charges you nothing, and signs every webhook. It has no free trials, no usage billing, no proration and no test mode, so check those against your plans before you start.
StablecoinsCompareUSDC on Solana vs Ethereum, Base or Polygon: which network for payments
USDC is issued natively on Solana, Ethereum, Base and Polygon, and one USDC is the same dollar claim on each, but the network decides what the payer needs for fees and how long a payment takes to become final. Solana charges 5,000 lamports per signature, paid in SOL; Ethereum and Base charge gas in ETH and Polygon in POL. For payments the bigger difference is practical: the customer must hold USDC on the network the merchant accepts, and Fianto accepts Solana only.
PaymentsDataWho pays the fees in a crypto payment: payer, merchant, processor or sponsor
In a crypto payment the network fee is paid by the account named as fee payer, normally whoever signs the transaction, and a processor's fee is paid by whoever its contract bills, often the merchant. Some processors sponsor the network fee and fold it into their percentage. With Fianto the merchant pays nothing: the customer pays the Solana fee of the one transaction they sign, Fianto's charging key is the fee payer on each subscription renewal, and on plans created since 6 October 2026 the customer pays a flat 0.01 USDC network fee per subscription charge today toward those costs.
PaymentsWhat is a crypto payment gateway, and how does a Solana one work?
A crypto payment gateway is the software between a customer's wallet and your order system: it tells the customer exactly what to pay, recognises the payment on the blockchain, decides when it is final, and tells your server. The classic design watches an address for incoming coins, while on Solana a gateway can build the exact transaction for the customer to sign, which rules out underpayments and wrong-token mistakes. Fianto is a gateway of the second kind, for USDC on Solana, and it never holds the money.
SolanaSolana confirmed vs finalized: when a payment is final, and what Fianto waits for
A Solana payment is confirmed once validators holding more than two-thirds of the stake have voted on its block, usually about one slot after it lands, and finalized once that block can no longer be rolled back, which takes about 12.8 seconds until the Alpenglow upgrade activates (scheduled for 21 October 2026). Fianto shows the customer a receipt at confirmed, but marks the order PAID and sends order.paid only at finalized. Once Alpenglow is live, solana.com expects finality in roughly 150 milliseconds, and confirmed and finalized become the same state.
