Dropped vs failed Solana transactions: what is the difference, and who pays?

A dropped Solana transaction never made it into a block: no validator processed it, so nothing moved and no fee was charged, and once its blockhash expires it never will. A failed transaction did make it into a block, but an instruction refused, so every change was reverted except the fee, which Solana still charges. A dropped transaction can still land until that expiry, so wait for it before you pay again.

How to read a Solana payment on Solscan or Solana Explorer

Paste the transaction signature into Solscan or Solana Explorer and check five things: the status says success and finalized, the fee payer is the customer's wallet, the token is USDC (mint EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v), the merchant's USDC account went up by the price, and the transfer carries one extra read-only account, Fianto's reference. A one-off Fianto payment is one transaction with two compute-budget instructions and one USDC transfer, plus a second transfer to Fianto's treasury only when a service fee applies, which it does not during the beta.

Do merchants need to KYC crypto payers? What FATF, FinCEN and the IRS say

The FATF standards and FinCEN's guidance write KYC duties for financial intermediaries: FATF's 2021 guidance says a merchant accepting virtual assets as payment is not doing a VASP activity, and FinCEN's 2019 guidance says a person paying from their own unhosted wallet for goods is not a money transmitter. Other laws can still ask a business for a payer's details, such as the IRS cash-reporting rule, and your bank or lawyer may ask for more. Fianto never asks payers for ID; this post quotes the texts as of 15 October 2026 and is not legal advice.

Token-gating vs subscriptions for memberships: holding a token or paying each period

Token-gating grants access to whoever holds a token right now, so a member usually pays once to buy the token and can sell it, taking the access with it. A subscription grants access while each period is paid, so revenue recurs and the member can cancel. Pick token-gating for a tradable, collectible membership and a subscription for recurring income; Fianto runs only the subscription side, in USDC on Solana, and does no token-gating.

Pricing in USDC: price points, round numbers and the fees on top

Price in USDC the way you would price in dollars: pick a round number with two decimals, and set it as the amount you want to receive, because on Fianto every fee is added on top and paid by the customer. A Fianto price can be anything from 0.01 to 1,000,000 USDC and never changes once created. The customer's total is your price plus a flat 0.01 USDC network fee with each subscription charge today (on plans created since 6 October 2026), no Fianto fee during the beta, and after the beta about 0.1 to 0.5% on top.

Form 1099-DA and crypto payments: what US merchants paid in USDC should know

Form 1099-DA is the IRS information return a US digital asset broker files for the sales it carries out for its customers: gross proceeds for sales from 1 January 2025, and cost basis for some sales from 2026. When a customer pays you in USDC, the customer is the one disposing of USDC and you are receiving it as payment, so the 1099-DA a merchant usually meets is the one an exchange sends after the merchant sells its USDC there. A broker using the optional stablecoin method need not report those sales at all while they stay at or under $10,000 for the year.

Business crypto wallets: hot, hardware and multisig for receiving USDC

Most businesses taking USDC are better served by two wallets than by one: a receiving wallet whose own key can sign a message, because that signature is how Fianto proves the wallet is yours, and a savings wallet that a single compromised computer cannot empty. A software wallet, or a hardware wallet if your setup can sign Fianto's message, fits the receiving role. A Squads multisig vault is a strong home for savings, but Fianto has not verified that a vault can complete the wallet proof, so plan to receive into a single-key wallet and move money to the vault on a schedule.

Can USDC be frozen? The freeze authority on Solana, and what it does to a payment

Yes, USDC can be frozen. On Solana the USDC mint names a freeze authority, a key that can freeze any USDC token account, and Circle's USDC terms reserve the right to block addresses and freeze the USDC tied to them. A frozen account keeps its balance but cannot send or receive USDC until it is thawed, so it cannot pay at a Fianto checkout, and each subscription renewal from it fails and counts toward the four attempts before the subscription ends.

USDC decimals, lamports and Solana units: one page of conversions

USDC on Solana has 6 decimals, so 1 USDC is 1,000,000 base units and 25 USDC is stored and sent as the whole number 25000000. SOL has 9 decimals: 1 SOL is 1,000,000,000 lamports, and every network fee and rent figure on Solana is counted in lamports. Fianto takes prices as decimal strings such as "12.50", returns every amount in its API and webhooks as a string of USDC base units, and never does money arithmetic with floating-point numbers.

How to move USDC to Solana from another chain: CCTP, exchanges and wrapped tokens

To move USDC to Solana, either withdraw it from an exchange straight to your Solana address on the Solana network, or use Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), which burns USDC on the chain it leaves and mints native USDC on Solana. Both routes end with the native mint EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v, the only USDC a Fianto checkout accepts. Avoid any bridge that hands you a wrapped copy instead.

How USDC is backed and redeemed: reading the reserve report

USDC is backed by dollar assets Circle holds apart from its own money: on 31 August 2026 its reserve report showed $73,398,532,613 against 73,320,757,305 USDC in circulation, about 85% of it in a government money market fund holding Treasury repos and bills, and most of the rest in cash at regulated financial institutions. Only holders with a Circle Mint account can redeem USDC with Circle for dollars; everyone else sells it through a third party.

VAT and sales tax on sales paid in USDC: the EU, UK and US rules

Taking USDC instead of cash or a card does not take a sale out of VAT or sales tax. HMRC says VAT "is due in the normal way" on goods or services sold for cryptoassets, valued in pounds at the moment of the sale, and New York treats paying with virtual currency as a barter, with sales tax on taxable goods or services due in US dollars. Fianto adds no tax to a price and files nothing, so any tax has to sit inside the price you set.
